Founded in 2017, Down & Out: The Magazine is an independent publisher of crime fiction based in Tampa, Florida.

Eric is the founder and publisher of Down & Out Books. After spending twenty-five years in healthcare finance, Eric started Down & Out Books as an avenue to help develop and build “lost” authors. Since then, the company has published nearly 200 books and is home to several imprints including Shotgun Honey and ABC Group Documentation. The company specializes in the crime, thriller and suspense genres.
Rick Ollerman, Editor.
Rick is the author of four novels: Turnabout, Shallow Secrets, Truth Always Kills, and Mad Dog Barked. He is the editor of the anthology Blood Work (May 2018, Down & Out Books) in honor of the late Gary Shulze, and he’s writing a true crime book alongside the principal, as well as editing a collection of letters between John D. MacDonald and his wife written during WWII (Dead Dordo, Stark House, October 2017). This year will also see a collection of his own non-fiction pieces (Spring 2017) and he is co-editing another anthology featuring writers of the paperback original (PBO) era slated for the fall (Stark House). In 2016 he had short stories appear in the anthologies Windward: The Best Crime Writing of New England (Level Best) and Waiting to be Forgotten (Gutter Books).
